Woman to Woman - Festival de Jazz de Montreux
"This 100% female all-star band hailing from the USA, Canada, France, Chili, Israel and Japan, mixes nationalities and generations. They revisit jazz standards, drawing on their varied influences. Woman to Woman brings together key players on the current jazz scene to create an unforgettable musical experience. The virtuoso rhythms created by double bassist Noriko Ueda and drummer Sylvia Cuenca drive the group of seven, with Cécile McLorin Salvant’s compelling voice, pianist Renee Rosnes, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, clarinetist Anat Cohen and tenor saxophonist Melissa Aldana. “There’s nothing radical in reclaiming equality whether in jazz or elsewhere. It’s the least we can do!” said singer Cécile McLorin Salvant, who won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album in 2016. On-stage in the Club, these seven women will be playing their eclectic repertoire which is as delicate as it is powerful, filled with interaction and improvisation. "
